Intro:
We are live on Florida's Muscle Beach as Disney have set up a fight for the star of their newest Star Wars show "The Acolyte" Amandla Stenberg to do battle in the boxing ring with influencer and actress Jena Frumes. Who has not won in her two bouts in the ring after making her debut a year ago.
At the weigh in things didn't exactly go brilliant for Disney as they had both women step on a stage with their logo and the shows logo on the large banner set up on the back. Both women wore sports bras and thongs as Amandla wore black to Jena's red. Each fighter came in at the flyweight limit. The issues started when they were brought together for the face off.
Jena didn't seem to appreciate the cocky smirk on her opponents face. Telling Amandla "I don't know why you are smiling bytch. Your show is a joke just like you." Making Amandla lose the smile and stare angrily at her rival. Both women stared pushing each other before hands went for hair.
The crowd loved the cat fight that followed. Seeing the two strong women bump bodies and drag each other around by their hair as insults flew. Security would finally break them up with both promising the other they'd give them the beating of a life time as they had to be dragged off the stage at opposite sides.
Fighting time! The black ring posts have been set in the beach itself. Violet ropes are being used with a red and blue turnbuckles for the fighters corners. The select crowd are sitting in bleachers to watch this contest.
On to the beach first comes Amandla wearing a black hoodie with the hood up. She walks to the ring trying to look menacing like one of her two characters from the show in Osha. The hoodie soon comes off once she is in the ring to reveal a black string bikini with matching gloves, her hair is tied into a braid as she bangs her gloves together ready to rumble.
Out comes Jena now with her coach following. She is wearing a pink string bikini with red gloves. Her hair is braided too as she climbs into the ring. Jena has to be held back by the referee as she tries to share a few more words with her opponent. Being herded back over to her corner to cool off.
The referee goes to each corner as the organisers of this fight clearly don't want them brawling unofficially. Each is told to keep this fight clean. Once all those talks are done the referee signals for the bell to be rung to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1:
"Ding!" Both square up early to get in their shots. Punches knock back heads as they frankly brawl more then box. Bumping into each other at times, they clinch up and need to be dragged apart by the referee. Opening minute is chaotic but the crowd is roaring both women on.
Jena catches Amandla with a sweeping left hook on her jaw to turn her head. Amandla now finding herself being muscled into the ropes. The body of the California girl is being predominantly pounded to lower her guard before her head is smacked.
Clinching up after being smacked around. Amandla is getting a rough welcome to celebrity boxing. They are split up and she looks a little deer in headlights. Jena bullying her around the ring till the round comes to an end. Certainly not the way Amandla's management wanted this to start off.
Round 2:
Resuming after Amandla got a telling off for being so reckless. She is starting to use her jab more to box and move. Jena looking to keep being aggressive as she walks after her opponent. Amandla showing good footwork though to keep out of danger for long.
Punches smack both fighters cheeks as already they are marked up. Amandla trying to move inside but Jena hits her to the side of her head with a short left hook. The influencer rifles a straight into Amandla's face to snap back her head as again Jena starts to control the middle of the ring.
Herding Stenberg around the outside part of the ring. Frumes is showing how dangerous she can be. Amandla this time is firing back though. Problem for her is that Jena is looking comfortable picking her punches. The round ends with Jena starting off this fight well. Amandla looking a little frustrated but she is told to do what they trained and not lose her head.
Round 3:
Both are opening up more as they exchange around the ring kicking up sand. Amandla dips under a sweeping right to come up with an overhand left on the jaw of her foe to turn her head around. On comes Amandla now as she gets some steam now. Jena needing to clinch when her back touches the ropes. Landing a few rabbit punches with her right glove to the back of the head of Amandla to earn her a warning from the referee.
Broken up they fight on with Amandla pushing the pace up a notch. She looks to have gained confidence from this success. Jena finding herself being forced to box off the back foot as she is being outworked by her younger opponent.
Under a minute to go. Jena manages to catch Amandla as again the youngster gets overly aggressive and eats a straight on her nose to make her cry out. A left hook crashes across the lips of Stenberg to cut her bottom lip. They trade on the inside up until the round comes to an end. Pushing each other off before they walk back to their corners.
Round 4:
They push off their stools with sweat covering their bodies. They exchange around the middle of the ring. Eyes locked as they slow down a little but only because they are not wanting to make a mistake. Crowd baying them on as they plant their feet more in the sand to land with more power.
After the opening minute. Amandla lands a jab and leans out the way of a right hook before landing a counter right into the face of Jena to knock her head back. Jena finds herself pinned onto the ropes with hooks coming her way. Not all land but some send sweat flying off the head of Frumes.
After holding onto Amandla to force the referee to break them up. Jena is covering up more tightly as she might be having flash backs to her last two bouts. Amandla landing through the gaps in Jena's guard to knock her head back. Jena needing to stand her ground to fight back in the dying moments of the round till it ends with both scowling at each other.
Round 5:
Fighting with more power punches being exchanged. Amandla looks to be getting back into the mistakes she made earlier as Jena catches her with a right across her lips to make her yelp out. A double jab to the forehead of Amandla knocks her head back to cause her to back up.
Holding the middle of the ring again. Jena cutting off the ring to force the issue slamming punches into the face of her younger foe. Amandla manages to grab hold of Jena to slow her down. Both women digging with a free hand into the others kidneys. Referee splits them apart and warns both women to keep it clean before points are deducted.
Fighting on with Jena slamming her right into the face of Amandla to push her back. Jena is keeping the pressure on her opponent as Amandla covers back up. The bell rings to end the round with Jena trying to intimidate her rival by chesting up to her. Amandla shoves her off as both women really don't like each other.
Round 6:
Back comes Amandla as she is clearly trying to show that she won't be bullied around by her older foe. Jena caught a little off guard when a straight catches her on the nose to draw some blood from her nostrils.
Powering forwards now, Amandla is rifling in several piston like punches square into the face of Jena. Who grabs hold of Amandla in a sweaty embrace. Both grind bodies as they grapple to the ropes. Referee needing to push them apart so they can fight on.
Jena coming back at Amandla late in the round. They nearly clash heads at times as they work each others bodies. Grunts and groans can be heard as their slick bodies are being pounded. The bell dings to end proceedings with both returning to their corners to sit on their stools needing to be cleaned up.
Round 7:
Pushing off their stools to resume. Amandla gets caught with a few hits around her lips. Jena getting hit around her nose in reply as both are really trying to hurt their opponent. Dipping under a straight to land to the body of Jena. Amandla looks to be making some headway working back her opponent.
Pushing off Stenberg to create space to work. Jena lands a straight on the nose of her opponent before a sweeping left hook around her eye. Amandla blinking to clear her vision as Jena now comes on with hard hooks sending her opponent reeling backwards.
Amandla finds herself pinned down onto the ropes. Jena mixing up her shots to put Amandla under real pressure. The round ends with Amandla looking relieved as she grimaces on her walk back to her corner.
Round 8:
Amandla is fighting on but Jena is starting to show her raw power here. Smacking Amandla back when they exchange in closer range. An uppercut rocks back the head of Amandla as she has her knees wobble. A RIGHT HOOK TO THE TEMPLE SENDS AMANDLA DOWN TO HER SIDE AS SAND FLIES UP ONTO HER BODY!
Jena walks to the neutral corner leaning against it as her chest is rising faster. 1....2....3.... Amandla rolls slowly to her front. 4....5... The Star Wars actress trying to push to her feet. 6....7... But Amandla is knocked loopy as she falls back to her left side in the sand! 8....9....10 it's all over!
Winner Jena Frumes KO Round 8
After:
This certainly wasn't in the script as Amandla loses her debut. Not the greatest sight for her management seeing her with Jena standing on her yelling at her "don't ever think you are a big shot around me!" The referee holding off Jena so the ringside doctor can check on the beaten fighter.
Jena returns to her corner to get a hug from her coach. Over a years training to improve upon what happened to her in her first two fights seem to have certainly worked for her. Jena wiping sweat off her brow with a towel as she beams knowing now she has broken her duck in the ring, people might give her some respect.
While Amandla is helped to her stool in her corner after getting the all clear. She fights back tears as this was not how she imagined her debut would go. She shouldn't be embarrassed one bit as she showed great heart. It was more rookie mistakes that cost her then anything else.
Once she feels ok Amandla leaves the ring with help from her corner team. She has her head down as her fans try to leave her spirit chanting her name. Amandla ignores them as right now all she can probably think is how bad things are right now.
In the ring Jena is bouncing with joy as her right hand is raised by the referee. She flexes for the cameras to capture. While it's too early to say Jena has fully turned her career around, at least she has started to build in the right direction after a terrible rookie year.
Leaving the ring with her coach. Jena fist bumps a few fans a ringside and takes a few selfies. She looks a lot more like her bubbly self then the angry fighter that started the event off. Showing how much weight can be taken off by getting a victory. |
